With my return to academia, I have had loads of time to think about everything. The problem is that most things I feel the need to write about are superseded by classes, school work, and general naiveté towards the respective subject. Nonetheless I have decided to bring this aspect of my life back with more useless knowledge, trivial subjects, and general nonsensical ramblings about how the world is against me. (more…)

I was working the other day when my attention span shortened and I remembered part of a summer job I had while living in Blacksburg. It was the July or August of 2002 and I was working for Fox Ridge Apartments on the other side of town as summer help. I did everything from put up siding, to move appliances, to clean carpets. So, the marathon runner finally stopped talking about the marathon. No more emails, paper cut-outs, or office announcements hopefully forever. The total tally was close to a dozen. I heard about the “accomplishment” via retelling of the story about 8 times in the office, 3 times over the phone (there office is next to mine and the walls are basically cardboard), and 2 times from email. How many times have you been in a formal situation, i.e. meetings, seminars, church etc. where there is a certain atmosphere that must be maintained? How many of those situations have you been able to sit through without bursting out laughing because some speck of humor popped into your brain? (more…)

Here is part two in the continuing series entitled, “Shut The Fuck Up, How People Are Annoying The Piss Out Of Others And They Don’t Know It.” Yeah, it’s a working title. Let’s revisit the events of yesterday. Coworker wins marathon “in their division”, everyone congratulates them (except me), and the butterfly effect produces world peace. (more…)

I do not like people that advertise their personal lives. I have touched on this before but I feel the need to regurgitate this material for my own well being and the edification of the few readers of this site. There’s this person I work with. They are constantly looking for validation. In doing so, they routinely tell everyone they encounter about the transpiring events in their life. (more…)

You learn something new everyday. Yesterday after consuming the majority of a cantaloupe I became interested in how they grow. Initially I thought they were some sort of estranged cousin to the mango but I came to find out they were related to the watermelon. (more…)

1) The people I work with who did not go to Virginia Tech, do not know anyone there, and have no affiliation with Virginia Tech that provide “insight” and “wisdom” into what unfolded there. (more…)

I’m sure most of you are aware of what happened yesterday at Virginia Tech. If you’re not, go to any news reporting website or your preferred news station.

Being a VT grad, this is a surreal moment for me. I wasn’t at the school when the events transpired or anywhere near it for that matter. What really hit home for me was seeing the building. I instantly remembered I had vector geometry class in there. Then the images of police and injured students are shown and it became almost like a bad movie. Your mind tries to process what your eyes are seeing and it can’t be done. Blacksburg was the safety bubble; the campus stood therein. Walking across campus late at night didn’t produce fear but euphoria because everything was lit up in such a manner that you could only just stare in awe. This tragedy has changed everything and affected every Hokie. CNN or someone affiliated with them appropriately summed it up, “This is a tragedy in American history. So for today, forget any and all of your college affiliations. For today, we are all Hokies.”

My thoughts and prayers are for the victims and their families. God Bless.

Chuck Norris and Mr. T walked into a bar. The bar was instantly destroyed, as that level of awesome cannot be contained in one building.

Chuck Norris can divide by zero.

Chuck Norris eats beef jerky and craps gunpowder. Then, he uses that gunpowder to make a bullet, which he uses to kill a cow and make more beef jerky. Some people refer to this as the “Circle of Life.”

Human cloning is outlawed because if Chuck Norris were cloned, then it would be possible for a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick to meet another chuck Norris roundhouse kick. Physicists theorize that this contact would end the universe.

Chuck Norris uses 8′x10′ sheets of plywood as toilet paper.

In the last year two people have left this office, both for better opportunities. One guy was environmental scientist at the project level which isn’t used in the same context as a project manager because that is something entirely different within this company. The project level is essentially step 3 in your ascent up the corporate ladder with steps 1 and 2 being denoted with a “staff” out front e.g. “staff jerk-off” and steps 4 and 5 having the same nomenclature substitute senior and principal. It is the end of March and the Final Four have been established. Like last year, I joined the office pool again; however, I have a chance at winning assuming it will be a Tostitos Bowl repeat. The subject of this post is not bitching about the details of the retarded pool setup here (thank god they did not include picking upsets as more points) but rather about the retarded emails I receive regarding the pool. Imagine this situation:

Someone who does not understand why a camera will not transfer pictures to a computer. They consult the other employees in the office who offer a variety of solutions including but not limited to changing the batteries, updating the drivers, using a different USB cord, using a different computer, trying to adjust the camera mode while the camera is connected, etc. etc. etc. (more…)

So the last 6 months have been really busy and I’m sure the next 6 will be just as, if not more, busy. Between work and school, I have little to any free time to do much of anything. Periodically in the past months, I have written bits and pieces that are included with this post. If you don’t understand why something is written, insert the phrase, “things that piss me off”, before it and you’re good to go. So enjoy because I don’t know when I will be able to update again. Why on earth do people feel the need to celebrate birthdays in the office environment? I understand that everyone wants to feel special on their birthday and feels that everything should go their way on such a day. Personally, I would rather have that person not show up to work instead of segueing the fact that they were born on this day into every conversation. (more…)

Well after a couple weeks in NoVA and South Carolina, I am glad to be home again. Although, I must admit I was surprised that people are actually hitting this page considering I haven’t really shared the link or even posted any material I consider worth reading. I had something like 100+ hits in one day but after closer inspection, it seems another page CJR Daily took an excerpt of one of my posts. Is this the rise of Litre Vision? I think not. Nevertheless, a “thanks” goes to the author of that article. (more…)

Barry Bonds is what’s wrong with baseball today. He’s a cheater. He’s a liar. He’s proud of it. This guy not only admittedly used steroids, subsequently denying it later, but believes he is some sort of role model. Barry Bonds should not only be thrown out of baseball but all his records should be dismissed. Anyone who has used steroids to further their abilities and career should not be allowed to set foot inside any professional (more…)

I worked on my days off

Well everyone knows by now that day’s off are irrelevant to me. I mainly work to stay ahead even with the game and it also kills a couple hours where I would normally just watch TV on the couch. I still see no problem with working extra even though seemingly (more…)

I’m sure we are all aware of Britney Spears’ actions as a mother. The dropping of her child, having him ride on her lap when driving, and usage of the car seat in a wrong fashion are just a few of her misdoings. Now it seems that moms across America are asking the general populace to lay off Britney for her actions because after all she is only human. Not only do this firm up the fact that their are other women in the United States who should not be parents, it makes a pretty strong case that they are idiots as well. (more…)
